No, this won't do...
Jaggedstream lifted his head from a patch of moss. The green patch of fuzz was growing at the winding base of a tree, within a crevice in its trunk. However, the bushy plant was still young - definitely not large or plush enough to carry water or make comfortable bedding. The warrior knew that it would be best to leave this patch to grow, and to come back within a moon or two to finally pluck it. Their new territory - while a lively beach with much to do - was not exactly an ideal spot for moss to grow. It didn't compare to the luscious, plentiful moss of the waterfall. However, that didn't mean this new land was completely void of the valuable green plant. One simply had to look a bit harder for it. Just because the coastal area wasn't as suitable for moss to grow - what with it's salty water and hotter temperatures - didn't mean that it was impossible altogether. This just added more of a challenge to finding the prime spots for moss hunting. Thankfully, that was Jaggedstream's favorite pastime. He never really understood why, but the tom was never sure the duties of a warrior fit him. He was more of a pacifist than his clanmates. He didn't really find himself to be a great hunter, either. But something about finding moss caught his attention to the point of it being his favorite hobby, which in turn did help the clan. Bedding had to be changed, fresh water needed to be carried back to camp... But the apprentices always seemed to be busy with training and whatnot. The lack of warriors meant they were constantly being called to patrols and extra lessons. So in Jaggedstream's mind, he was doing his part for the clan in the form of picking up the slack the apprentices were too busy to carry. The brown marbled warrior began to move away from the tree, his eyes scanning for a new trunk to search. He passed a few potential contenders, only to be disappointed when their lack of the plant proved dissatisfactory. Jaggedstream's green eyes intently inspected the bark of each tree, his hard gaze purely present out of sheer focus, leaving him vulnerable to anyone else who might be around... --- Dappledolly

Maybe? No no.. not soft enoughSunshadow's amber eyes gazed at the still plush bed of moss that scattered across territory. She was nervous as bare leaf was just around the corner and with the limited warriors and limited supplies, she worried greatly about not being prepared. Her old mentors words swirled through her head, the thought of failing her clan and having the repercussions placed on her simply ate her up. As she thought, she continued to wander through the cool path, her paws picking up pace as she tried to find a good spot to check. Familiar and foreign smells filled her nose as she bounded up the rolling reach, the only moss she could find that was soft closer to camp tightly held in her jaw. She distantly thought to herself if this is what it was like to catch and hold prey, happily and proudly carrying it back home to help feed your clanmates. The wind picked up slightly, twirling through her fur and bringing the unique woody earth scent that came with fresh moss. As she came to the top of the winding hill, her eyes lightened up at the sight of large plush areas of moss lightly dabbed in and around the slim trees. Thank Starclan she thought, running up to the first tree and lightly running her paw along the soft bristles. As Sunshadow drifted off in thought about everything and nothing all at once, a familiar smell drifted towards her. It was warm, and caused her to look up from her moss and scan the area. As she surveyed the trees trying to find a good clump to take back, her amber eyes caught green ones looking back at her. She was startled for a second, not expecting anyone else to be around, but soon soothed her fur when she realized it was Jaggedstream. The tall warrior had always caught her eye for his intricate stream like patterns going along his flanks and his soft nature. He was always helpful, and often brought some of the best moss they could find. She purred softly, quickly trotting towards the tom " Hey there, Jaggedstream!" she called out, tail waving behind her. Jaggedstream had found a decent patch of moss. It looked soft. With a quick press of his paw, he tested the the plant. It sprung back into shape after the cat pulled away, and the textured felt just right. Not too scratchy, but not so soft that it wouldn't be able to hold water. Perfect, he thought as he decided that this is where he would begin to finally start today's moss gathering expedition. Just as the tom bent his neck down to grab the tender plant, he heard his name called. Perk his ears, his head moved slightly in the direction of the voice, looking to see who it was in his peripherals. "Sunshadow," the tom greeted back, giving a soft smile, his head raising a bit more to get a better view of the medicine cat, "Out here moss hunting, too, I assume? Or perhaps gathering herbs?" The large warrior often visited Sunshadow in her den. If no moss was needed for the other cats' dens, he would drop off the excess with the molly to be used in her duties. He enjoyed his chats with her, too, though she did most of the talking. Not that he minded. She had such a soothing voice, and Jaggedstream welcomed the positivity she brought with her interactions. And her den was a lot calmer than the hustle and bustle of the rest of the camp. Well, most of the times anyway, if she wasn't treating a fellow warrior or shooing unruly apprentices out of her herb stash. It was a safe haven, and he was sure the rest of his clanmates would agree. "Would you like some company?" The marbled tabby asked, turning back to face the moss he had found and dipping his head, clamping his jaw gentle onto the patch of soft greenery. He slowly and carefully peeled it with expertise, making sure that it all came up in one sheet. --- Dappledolly

The tortoiseshell molly purred louder as she got closer to the bigger tom, excitedly waving her tail behind her until she caught up. She noticed his bundles of moss, already safely stored to bring back to camp and looked back up to him. " I see you already beat me to it!" she giggled, " I'm going to end up taking you in as an apprentice at this point!" She could always count on the tom for any help and support she needed, from helping her gather herbs and moss and helping her shoo away some of the curious apprentices who want a chance at playing healer for the day. He would come around often, and she often found herself more at peace with him, more levelheaded. Still, she admired the tom and his disposition, and would frequently seek him out before anyone else. " You always know the best places to find moss, I'll get adjusted eventually.." She turned her gaze to the slim trees that dotted along the hill, small bits of green peaking out to reveal themselves. She had been having trouble adjusting to the new environment. It was nothing like home and she would often think of what life would be like had they never been forced to leave. A small ocean breeze that escaped the coast danced its way towards them, running through her fur and bringing her back from her far away thoughts. She turned back to the marbled tom, meeting his eyes. Her ear twitched at his question, a purr erupting from her as he asked. " You know I love to have you around!" she answered, watching him turn to grab another soft piece of moss. She turned back to the trees, tiny flowers dotting the path here and there with tiny pools from previous rainfall scattered about. She distantly wondered if she could find any other herbs here as she looked, if anything at least a couple of cobwebs would suffice. _____ Pants
