Bounding up onto a boulder that overlooked the valley of his new home, Fogpool took in a deep breath of the fresh air - watching contentedly as a soft cloud formed only to fade just as quickly. His heart hammered despite how calm he appeared on the outside, though for a change it was not out of fear. Instead, it was from excitement. The previous day, Aspenstar had entrusted Fogpool with their first ever apprentice. This would be the first cat to ever receive their warrior name and training on these new lands. So for his close friend to place Whitepaw under his guidance was a honour not many would be able to claim.
Turning his body so he could glance behind him, Fogpool watched fondly as Whitepaw bounded over to join him. The kits frame uncertain on the new landscape made a soft purr rumble from deep within the toms chest. His apprentice would do well. He wouldn't rest until he knew that Whitepaw would be able to thrive.
"Welcome to Gorseclan's territory!" Fogpool mewed happily, tail curling in delight when Whitepaw eventually caught up to him. "Although the first day as an apprentice can be daunting, we'll be going over the basics of being a warrior and what is expected of you...if you are up to the challenge, that is."

Stepping carefully over the new terrain under his paws, Whitepaw observed their territory with wide eyed wonder. It was his first time outside camp. With company, of course. He had managed to sneak out once or twice, except he never went far. Breaking the rules could be a whole lot of fun, but getting caught was not. Nevertheless, he'd never been this far before. He assumed it was expected that he'd be nervous, but excitement left his paws trembling and heart pounding. Waiting to become an apprentice had felt like an eternity for Whitepaw. Finally he could have some real fun!
Well, not too much fun, he warned himself. Becoming a warrior was important, and of course he would focus very hard on his training. He knew his mother would surely worry about him, and he didn't intend on giving her any reason to. He would make her proud. But... A small part of him couldn't help but feel it would be a breeze. His new name had given the apprentice a surge of confidence. Being the first and only current apprentice of Gorseclan totally earned him bragging rights, didn't it? And Fogpool seemed alright. Friendly enough, he supposed. Though truthfully, if Whitepaw could train himself he would. He didn't exactly have any friends, and the only cat he spent time with was his mother. He knew that he could learn a lot from the warrior though. He'd have to suck this one up. Besides, he could still have fun messing with Fogpool time to time.
"Up to the challenge?" Whitepaw stopped at his mentor's side with a flick of his tail, unable to suppress a raise of his brow at the older warriors tone. Well... Who was he to refuse! "I'm ready for anything you throw at me." He meowed cockily. He wasn't sure what exactly the warrior had in store, but now was the time to find out!
