" Eaglepaw! Thistlepaw! Get back here!" No matter how much she seemed to call for the two younger cats, they never seemed to listen. " They're at that age, I guess..", the MeadowClan deputy muttered under her breath as she continued to trek along, the marshy ground underfoot. The sound of her pawpads squishing in a bit always made a chill run down her spine. At least it wasn't raining today. That always made the marsh a little more unbearable. However, they were heading towards the edge of the border, which thankfully was a lot drier. But even as she grew closer to the edge, the torbie's ears were perked and eyes sharply searching for anything that might be out of the ordinary. There had been a scent. The scent of a cat, more specifically, and one that nobody in MeadowClan had recognized. It wasn't fishy like CoveClan's or Woodsy like MossClan's. Nor was it the earthy scent of a GorseClan cat. No, this was something else. Someone else. Violetsight knew it needed to be checked out. It had been a while since there were trespassers, and she didn't ever find out who they were last time. She was going to be vigilant this time around, and figured it was best to bring the apprentices for training on the matter. It was only NewLeaf, thankfully, so prey was plentiful, but the deputy couldn't let this newcomer get comfortable... ----- stray amber theeriginals

The dark-colored molly sighed in relief as she entered a more familiar area, it was still thick with undergrowth but not as badly as the previous territories she’d traveled through. Strike lowered herself beside the pool of water, lapping up the cool liquid. Her thick pelt wasn’t helping with the humidity, but at least it protected her from the sharp thorns she’d gotten stuck in it. Life was simpler on the coast…
Once she had her fill, the molly surveyed the area for any other cats. Her jaws parted as she took in the scents. Everything was smothered by humidity, only really catching trees, some small prey animals, and the old scent of the cats that seemed to have claimed the territory. Nothing appeared to be close to her so Strike allowed herself to rest next to the pool, stretching her overheated body across the sand beneath her. The buzzing of insects hid any other noises deeper into the forest.

Whatever the Meadowclan deputy had said went in through one ear and out the other. Eaglepaw bounded over the tallgrass with vigor, eyes wide and tail held high. He slipped a couple times as he lost his purchase on the marshy ground. The best part of going on patrol was that he could roam the territory! And better yet, there's still so much to explore! Maybe they can find something new this time around. The best place for moss? A trove of rare herbs? Though he wouldn't be able to recognize the latter...
Of course, he was still acutely aware of the reason Violetsight took him and his sister out on patrol. There was a cat on their territory, and even he knew not to stray too far. This could potentially be their first time interacting with a cat not of the clans. Well... not counting the loners who joined Meadowclan. Every now and then, he stopped sharply in his tracks to look over his shoulder and wait for the deputy before continuing to run ahead.
"Are we close to the border yet?" Eaglepaw asked as he once again stopped, tilting his head.
