Waveheart - MossClan Deputy

Water dripping down through the canopy, Waveheart jumped up onto a low hanging branch. At his disturbance, a bit of rain fell onto his ear, resulting in an involuntary twitch. As claws dug into the soaked wood, a gust of salty air hit. The CoveClan border loomed, where trees became sparce and, if one went far enough, water pooled on the sandy ground. Somehow, it still surprised him just how dark MossClan territory was. He squinted at the bright sunlight that crept in at the edge of the territory, then turned to call down.
"We'll go along the CoveClan border, then the Slumbering Forest border, and head back when we hit the gathering island," He called down to Crispfeather and Floesnap, his group for the second border patrol today. Both were younger warriors, recently transitioning from apprentices; a part of Waveheart was nervous. He was responsible for them, and although as deputy he knew he was responsible for the clan itself, this type of responsibility always felt different. In this group, he was the senior warrior. In such a small group, it was more personal. How would he explain it to the clan if something happened to them and he couldn't stop it?
In his head, Waveheart left his fears and nerves on that branch as he leaped back down in front of the two cats. Fear and anxiety helped nothing, the journey to these territories taught him that. He glanced back at them, tail waving in the direction they were to head. He smiled lightly, "So, are we ready?"
